Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services (WS 2012 RDS) is essential to the Microsoft Cloud services and helps you manage and deploy your applications in large-scale cloud services with confidence and ease. The WS 2012 RDS provides the user with the opportunity to have access to desktopF workstations and centralized applications from practically anywhere. Although it is not the most modern version of the WS 2012 RDS, the version is a preferred one when it comes to setting personal virtual servers. The WS 2012 RDS is surely to improve your remote work process. Microsoft makes a lot of innovations that are completely user-friendly and helpful - one can readily manage and store files or create networks. The WS 2012 RDS comes with a single user client access license (CAL) which allows the user to connect unlimited number of devices to a single account. Besides that, as mentioned above, it allows you to deploy and manage your applications no matter your location and devices used.

The Remotefx is an integral part of the WS 2012 RDS. Some of its features include:

Adaptive Graphics. The WS 2012 RDS has codecs optimized for text, images and multimedia. Microsoft improved caching and added progressive rendering. Progressive rendering make you have a smoother experience over a highly constrained network.
Intelligent Transports. The WS 2012 RDS supports Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP). UDP ensures a better experience over a lossy WAN network but it might not quite reliable in some cases. RDP will automatically use TCP when UDP cannot be used to ensure connectivity and the best possible experience. When the UDP is not capable of ensuring the best connectivity and experience, the RDP will use the TCP.
Optimized Media Streaming. In WS 2012 RDS, Microsoft make use of a new codec in order to reduce bandwidth consumption for media content.
Adaptive Network Auto Detect. There is no need for the end user to set the network in the RDS client. The client detects automatically the network type and it adapts as the network changes.
DirectX 11 Support with vGPU. Microsoft expand the vGPU feature. All Windows 8 virtual machines can take advantage of a DirectX 11 capable GPU, either para-virtualized and hardware-accelerated (vGPU) when a DirectX 11 compatible video card is present in the host or emulated in software (softGPU) when no GPU is present. Microsoft support multiple GPUs within one server and provide a greater engagement with OEM’s to provide systems that support this.
Single Sign-On. There is no need to use multiple certificates.
Email and web discovery of Remote Applications and desktops. In WS 2012 RDS the user can simply provide their email to find the right remote workspace to connect. This removes the requirement to remember a long website URL. Furthermore, Remote Desktop Web Access (RDWS) works with other browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Safari now.
Multi Touch. There are up to 256 touch points - this helps for a smoother experience when the user uses a touchscreen device locally or over Remotefx.
USB Redirection. Microsoft added support when you use physical hosts and sessions. This helps for a good experience that is independent of session, physical, or virtual machine based host.
Metro-style Remote Desktop. Microsoft added a new Metro-style app to provide an immersive touch-first remoting experience in the app store. Easy reconnect to your favorites, for examples, is just one of the many positive features.
