These new features of Microsoft Project Professional 2010 will act as your companion in making your plans a reality. Learn to use them, and you will notice how these will make your job easier.
When you open Microsoft Project for the first time, you will notice that it will immediately ask you to create or enter a new task. You can type in information about your tasks such as the duration, task name, and other important details. Once you’ve created a new task, you will notice that it will show in the Gantt chart which can be seen on the right side of the window. With this, you can also make new tasks or sub-tasks conveniently.
Assigning tasks will be easier if you only have to drag and drop the tasks with the use of the Team Planner. You can easily assign a task to another person with just a simple drag and drop motion. You can also easily see the tasks that your team members should do for the day. The capability to un-assign and assign tasks, view resources and task names and see over-allocations will also be at your fingertips. Other useful features of the Team Planner are the ability to check and view the status of a certain task and see if it is already completed.
When it is your first time using Project Professional 2010, you might wonder where the toolbars and menus went. They were replaced by the ribbon which is a useful tool to quickly find commands in order to finish a task. The groups and tabs inside the ribbon are completely customizable. You can easily group certain jobs or task and put them on the ribbon tab.
The backstage view a great companion of the ribbon tab. You can easily access it in the file tab where you will find the most-used Project Files. It is a convenient way to check your published projects and supervise Project Server Connections.
When you are going to use Microsoft Project Professional 2010, you will have the capability to transfer your project files to Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. This will be an easier way to let your colleagues check, create, and view reports needed in your organization. You don’t even need Microsoft Project Web Access in order to sync your list in SharePoint.
A team member can easily update and review the progress of a certain task in SharePoint Foundation 2010 while your project managers can also update and synchronize the plan.
